  1. Hi teacher!
With this comic I can interpret or analyze a little about some colloquial uses of words and although its modification, how people have the ability to understand the messages. This shows us how the message can be transmitted and received.

  4. Well teacher after read Chapter Number 6 of our book. I found how important is for the speaker not just saying things but also give them an order, I mean. Our intentions for a correctly way to express all of the utterances. Just like in the Comic. But I think I will need some tutorials.

  5. Well teacher, about speech acts and events in the chapter 6, it´s so so clear. I understand in this way: Speech acts is used in invitation, promise or request and Speech events is used with Will or Can.

  6. Ok teacher, I read really slowly the chapter 6! it had so many confusing things!! i mean, like explaining in circules...but! i think that i could relate some concepts; like, in the first chart we may be can appreciate the "perlocutionary act and effect" 'cause the "blue" cartoon obviously say what he say with an intention (may be call the green attention) and that would be the perlocutionary act but! as the green cartoon didn't got it, cause the circumstances weren't really clear (perlocutionary effect) we come again to the blue cartoon's intentios, he clearly wanted to be asked what he was talking about... or i see like that lol... i could relate with the reading too, the fact of that may be in the chart too, the blue cartoon is saying things in other languages (or i think so) and it says in the reading "Producing a strange utterance in a different language will not normalluy count as a locutionary act, whereas will" so, apparently the speech act could depend of the zone and the culture no? am i crazy? ...
I think that the fourth chart could show a representative and expressive speech act 'cause the blue cartoon is expressing what he believes and in an indirect way how he feels about... finally in the last one we could fine another example of a directive speech act, cause it sounds like an order

So that's what i could find :) or may be i just didn't got it and misunderstand the reading! :P hope you explain it better next class!

PD: i didn't got so much this thing of "emphatic" in the comic ._. or i couldn't find a relation between it and the reading

  7. This comic is a good example to explain the topic because each one contain the speech act and the speech event because we have a kind of utterance that must be interpreted in the best way
